Who
I'm a collector like most people that find themselves on
this page. I am a child of the 90s and still remember that X-men
set. I took a break from comics in 2000, and it wasn't till my own
kids became old enough for comics that I drifted back into it.
Hastings was our favorite place in town, and the only place to get
comics. The excitement of Free comic book day, and their own pull
box was a level of excitement that is contagious. My collection has
grown and changed over the last 6 years. My appreciation for
Connecting Cover Sets has not!
Why
I saw a need in the community for a way to track these pieces of amazing art. Looking around the internet I
have seen some elaborate cover sets. And a couple pages where they have at most a couple dozen lined up. Rarely
do they give what issues/series they are from or a way to find them all. From that the plan for this site was
hatched.
I knew that with my background in software engineering that I could make something that would be a tool for the
community. In the end I just want more people to be able to enjoy these like I do.
Where
I leaned on a great group of local friends, as well as on Discord in asking what people might want in a site
like this. I even paid for a one-shot ad campaign through Facebook, using MailChimp surveys. So where does it
come from? It comes from all of you. I hope with your support and additional ideas that we can do amazing things
here!
When
I originally used the building of this site as the as the capstone for my bachelors in software programming.
Since that first version I have reworked the entire site and underlying system three times. A lot of the changes
came from my own growth in programming with JavaScript. I found better ways to present information and do it in
a way that is designed to enhance your experience. A lot of time, thought and work has gone into bringing this
to you. With the changes that I have already implemented I can only assume that there is more that can add. I
am open to any suggestions for improvements, including constructive criticism. I hope you will come back
frequently to see what we have added and to enjoy the experience of connecting covers as much as I do!
